Code of Conduct

Final 2024/25
The Club’s Code of Conduct is a set of rules to be followed by people using the Club, in order to provide an enjoyable, comfortable, safe and rewarding environment for all. This Code of Conduct applies equally to members and their guests, including players from other clubs visiting the Club for social or bowling events.
POLICIES The Club has adopted the following policies and practices, and all members must comply
with them:

Bowls rules
The Club will abide by the World Bowls Rules subject to any amendments by governing bodies of relevant games, competitions or matches.
Behaviour
A member representing the Club is one who: is wearing Club uniform or any items that identifies them as a member of the Club; represents the Club in any bowls event; participates in any bowls event at the Club or at another club or attends such event(s) as a spectator.
General - It is expected that members and visitors of the Club, whilst at the Club or representing the Club, will at all times:

Be friendly, courteous and respectful towards other members and visitors;
•
Respect team mates, opponents, officials and the rules of the game;
•
Refrain from behaviour that would bring the game or Club into disrepute;
•
Refrain from behaviour that could offend or embarrass others;
•
Behave in a non-violent and non-abusive way;
•
Respect the positions of Club officers and Management Committee members and volunteers;
•
Treat the property and facilities of the Club with respect;
•
Contribute positively to the sporting and social activities of the Club.
•
Act in a manner that will not distract bowlers.
Selection - Any member who has indicated his/her availability to represent the Club in any organised competitions must play in the position(s) and team(s) as selected by the Club’s selectors.
Alcohol - Members or visitors who consume alcohol on the premises will do so responsibly. There is strictly no drinking on the green at any time.

Final 2024/25
Illegal substances – The Club has a zero tolerance of illegal substances within the confines of the Club. Any member found in possession of illegal substances will face an immediate ban from the Club and may be reported to the police.
Smoking or vaping - Smoking or vaping is not permitted in any area within the confines of the green or the Club house.
Mobile Phones - When a game of bowls is taking place on the green, mobile phones should be switched to either silent or vibrate and should not be used on the green.
Clothing - Flat bowls shoes must be worn at all times when playing on the Club green. When bowling in matches against external clubs or in Club competitions, members must wear club shirts and grey or white trousers, skirts or tailored shorts. At other times, including Club night and roll-ups, bowlers may wear casual clothes.
Subscriptions – Annual membership runs from 1st April to 31st March. Annual membership subscriptions are payable from 1st April and must be paid in full by the 31st May of that year, unless monthly instalments by BACS have been set up to spread the subscription payments over 12 months.
Suggestions - Any suggestions by members to improve the Club in some way will be made in writing or by email and addressed to the Club Secretary.
Members ’concerns
Breaches of the Club’s Code of Conduct - Breaches of the Club’s Code of Conduct should be reported to the Management Committee who will deal with the issue in a timely manner, ensuring all parties involved receive the Management Committee’s response in writing. The Management Committee has the right to make decisions and enforce fair and appropriate measures to resolve a breach of Code of Conduct. (See also 2.13 and 2.14 of the Constitution.)
Other concerns - Members may submit, in writing, concerns or views other than breaches of the Code of Conduct, to the Management Committee. The Management Committee will deal with concerns in a timely manner and will advise all concerned parties of their decision upon which the matter will be closed.
